A $160 million wind farm project — a first for Campbell County — has cleared most major hurdles, and construction is ready to begin. About 20,000 acres have been secured for the project and various studies have been underway for about five years. Now, it’s time for contractors to take over and build the farm once a wind turbine is chosen.
Basin Electric signed a power purchase agreement Dec. 20 associated with the development of a new wind project to be developed in South Dakota. The project is co-owned by Fagen Inc. of Granite Falls, MN, and the principals of Dakota Plains Energy, Aberdeen, SD, and is planned to be operational by the end of 2015.
